Scholes delighted as Oldham deliver him debut win

New Oldham Athletic boss Paul Scholes enjoyed the perfect start with a 4-1 win over Yeovil Town last night on his managerial debut.

Goals from Jose Baxter, Callum Lang, Mohamed Maouche and Chris Missilou, with Bevis Mugabi's netting the solitary response for the visitors, gave the 44-year-old Manchester United legend a perfect start at Boundary Park.

"That's what I want," a delighted Scholes said afterwards.

"I want them to express themselves and enjoy themselves. Fans want entertainment and that's what we gave them."

Scholes was given a rousing reception at his boyhood club.

"It was great," he said. "It's a place I've come as a fan and I know you excite them when you entertain them."
