Morgan Schneiderlin plans to leave Everton at the end of the season.
The midfielder, 28, said he is tempted to join Europa League semi-finalists Marseille, claiming he is a lifelong fan of the South Coast club.
Schneiderlin has the same agent as Marseille coach Rudi Garcia.
He told French TV: "My favourite clubs in France are Strasbourg, as I am from their local area.
"But when I was young I was always a Marseille fan. If I am to leave Everton I would love to take on a different challenge to the Premier League.
"I have already played for Southampton, Manchester United and Everton, and I can't see myself going elsewhere in England.
"I have three years left on my contract. We will see if Everton still want me, and if I want to stay.
"I have ambitions - and I want to enjoy myself out on the pitch."
