Schmeichel blasts Neville for writing off Man Utd Champions League chances

Peter Schmeichel has rapped former Manchester United teammate Gary Neville for writing off the team's Champions League chances after defeat to PSG.

United's unbeaten run ended with a 2-0 Champions League defeat to PSG and Neville declared the second-leg would be a dead rubber.

But Schmeichel, who won the treble with Neville, was furious with the Englishman's analysis.

“I don't know why he said that," the Dane replied.

“There's a three-week period now and anything can happen before the second leg.

“Make no mistake about it, Manchester United will have learned a lot.

“In three weeks you can improve a lot, train a lot and come up with a proper plan."

And the 55-year-old suggested the current manager's experience in the tournament can help his side.

Schmeichel continued: “If anyone has taken part in creating miracles with that football club, [Solskjaer's] one of them.

Thomas Tuchel said it correctly – if we can win 2-0 away from home, they can win 2-0 away from home."
