Shkodran Mustafi is set to be cut loose from Schalke at the end of the season.

BILD says Mustafi is keen to remain in Germany beyond the end of his short-term deal at Schalke, which expires at the end of the season.

The Bundesliga's basement club are unlikely to offer the 28-year-old, who left Arsenal on Deadline Day, a contract extension.

But Mustafi is keen to stay in his home country.
