Schalke star Max Meyer: Liverpool boss Klopp appreciates me as a player

Schalke attacking midfielder Max Meyer has revealed that Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is an admirer of his abilities.

Meyer is regarded as one of the brightest young talents to have emerged from Germany over the last few years and recently, claims have been made that the 20-year-old is being courted by Premier League outfit Liverpool.

The Reds are believed to be lining up a £28.1million bid for Meyer and the player himself has now gone on to fuel the speculation by stating that Klopp is keen on him.

"I know from the past that he [Klopp] appreciates me as a player," Meyer told German magazine Kicker.

"After my first derby against Borussia Dortmund - I was 18-years-old and scored a goal - he has publicly expressed praise for me.

"That's a nice feeling, when a great coach says he finds you good."
