Schalke have refuted suggestions they want to sign Dominic Solanke from Liverpool.

The German club had been linked with the 21-year-old, who has struggled for game time this season.

But the club's CEO Christian Heidel played down the possibility of a transfer.

He told WAZ: "There has been no contact with Liverpool or the player."

It is possible Solanke will leave on loan this January, as he is not in boss Jurgen Klopp's immediate plans.
