Derby are happy with Robbie Savage's new media commitments and confident they will not have a detrimental effect on his football next season. The former Wales international midfielder will be one of the presenters of BBC Radio 5 Live's 606 football phone-in programme, which airs from 6pm on Saturdays.
Savage will host the two-hour show alongside Mark Chapman. He will broadcast from Pride Park when Derby play at home and travel to the nearest local BBC studio for away matches.
A Rams spokesman said: "Robbie has never allowed his media work to interfere with his football. The fact that he played in all 46 league games last season stands that up. He looks after himself extremely well and we have absolutely no problem with this at all.
"It is a reflection of his profile and the fact that he talks a lot of sense - and that people are interested in what he has got to say.
"Robbie is unequivocal about the fact that his football comes first and he asked Nigel Clough's permission before accepting the position."
