Sassuolo chief Giovanni Carnevali expects coach Roberto De Zerbi to stay next season.

Carnevali also admits European qualification is a target this term.

“Europe is an ambition for the coach and the club, naturally it was also in our minds before the season began," Carnevali.

“We finished eighth last season, so the target is to at least confirm that. If we can even improve on it, then that would mean a place in Europe and a moment of great satisfaction for us."

If Sassuolo fail to qualify for European football, then there's no shortage of clubs lining up for De Zerbi's services, including Napoli.

“The club made a decision to count on a young coach with great quality and prospects, even if he had arrived after a relegation with Benevento.

“We are confident De Zerbi could do a great job at many big clubs, but we hope to keep hold of him for more than another year."
