Santos take aim at Barcelona by using Real Madrid 'transparency' after Neymar ruling

Santos have accepted their legal battle against Barcelona over Neymar's original sale is over.

The Court of Sports Arbitration (TAS) rejected a complaint by the Brazilian club filed with FIFA in which it demanded that Barça pay nearly 70 million dollars (61.2 million euros) for damages as a result of the signing of Neymar.

In response, Santos released a statement accepting the ruling, though also took a swipe at Barca by talking up the "transparency" of their dealings with Real Madrid over the sale of Rodrygo Goes earlier this season.

"Santos regrets, although will respect, the decision that rejected the unquestionable fact that it was harmed in the operation," the club said in an official note.

However, in the release they also sent a message to the board of Barca, since it hopes the ruling will mark the beginning of "a new chapter of transparency and rectitude" with a view to future signings, "following the transfer of Rodrygo Goes to Real Madrid".
