Santos Laguna ace Doria blasts Leeds boss Bielsa: I was a pawn

Santos Laguna ace Matheus Doria has spoken of how he was at the centre of a row between Leeds United boss Marcelo Bielsa and former Marseille president Vicente Labrune.

In 2014, OM recruited a certain Doria for 8 million euros. A player considered a huge hope in Brazil ... except that he would not play a minute with the Marseille team then coached by Bielsa. He instead was loaned to Sao Paulo, then to Granada, in LaLiga, before finally finding a place in the first team for the 2016/2017 financial year.

He recalled: “I arrived on the last day of the transfer window. Bielsa was not counting on me, and he got angry with the president (Vincent Labrune) because the management had recruited me without telling him about it.

"I was in the middle of a war between them. Suddenly, Bielsa did not make me play to prove to the president that he did not need me."
