San Jose Earthquakes midfielder Tommy Thompson didn't hesitate when telling reporters which star he wanted to trade jerseys with after the International Champions Cup clash with Manchester United.
The MLS club meet the famous English club at the Avaya Stadium on Tuesday night and 19-year-old Thompson is hoping to rub shoulders with the England national team captain.
"Wayne Rooney," Thompson said earlier this week when asked who he would want to swap shirts with.
"But I'm going to have to be pretty quick to grab his!"
The Earthquakes are coming off the back of a 5-2 thrashing to LA Galaxy last Friday, and face a difficult road trip to Vancouver Whitecaps this Friday, with the United fixture sandwiched in between.
Despite the jam-packed schedule, Thompson said his teammates weren't complaining.
"You can't complain when you're competing against some of the best teams in the world," he added.
"And even though it makes July's schedule a bit hectic, games are much more fun than practices. So, no complaints from me."
