Sampdoria president Massimo Ferrero is happy with their appointment of Claudio Ranieri.

Ferrero was speaking after Samp ran Juventus close in midweek, losing 2-1.

Asked about the January market, he said: “We must take some time out to understand [what we need] but, if in January we need to strengthen the team, I'm ready for that.

“Ranieri's the last emperor, he's an important man who's brought serenity to the team. He makes up for the things I do.

"Ferrero breaks them, Ranieri adjusts them."
