Sampdoria are exploring the prospect of re-signing Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira.

La Repubblica says Sampdoria are only prepared to pay Torreira £15,000 a week to re-sign the midfielder – way below his £65k Arsenal wages.

That's the claim this evening as the Serie A club eye the Uruguay star four years after selling him to the Gunners.

The 39-cap star has largely struggled in the Prem, spending the last two seasons on loan at Atletico Madrid and Fiorentina respectively.

But the 26-year-old's wage demands make a return to Sampdoria virtually “impossible".
