Saliba, Mavropanos force Arsenal boss Arteta to alter transfer plans

Arsenal will no longer target a centre-back this summer due to the form of loan duo Dinos Mavropanos and William Saliba.

Mavropanos has been starring for Bundesliga side Stuttgart, while Saliba has shone for Nice since joining in January.

David Luiz is likely to earn another year contract extension, while Mikel Arteta also has Calum Chambers, Rob Holding, Pablo Mari and Gabriel Magahales to choose from.

Therefore, Arteta and Edu have prioritised the signing of a left-back, right-back and attacking midfielder, according to football.london.

The Gunners will talk with Real Madrid to try and turn Martin Odegaard's loan into a permanent deal.

Arteta has been short at left-back after injuries to Kieran Tierney and Bukayo Saka.

The Spaniard has also been indecisive at right-back, having rotated Hector Bellerin, Cedric Soares and Chambers in the position.
