Salford cut loose ex-Man Utd pair

Former Manchester United pair James Wilson and Darron Gibson are amongst players released by Salford City.

The Ammies have released their retained list with Wilson and Gibson both let go by the club.

A club statement read: "After two seasons with us in the Football League, Oscar Threlkeld and Richie Towell have been released with the Irishman heading back to his native country to play for Shamrock Rovers.

"George Boyd, Tom Clarke, Harry Ditchfield, Sam Fielding, Darron Gibson, Dan Hawkins, Dan Jones, Will Shepherd and James Wilson have also been let go; again thank you to all the lads for their efforts in the First Team and the Development Squad."
