Salernitana coach Davide Nicola says Franck Ribery is joining his coaching staff.

Ribery, formerly of Bayern Munich and Fiorentina, announced his retirement this morning.

And Nicola says he will be adding the Frenchman to his backroom team: "When you see Franck you can only have a unique idea. We all know what he represented for football and for Salernitana.

"For me it is a joy that he wants to stay here, albeit under another guise. Having him on our staff is a pleasure, he could have done anything anywhere in the world and instead he agreed to stay with us.

"He will be a collaborator at 360°, he is a potential coach for personality, knowledge and ability to play down and read the moments. Now he is on the other side of the fence and will be able to perceive different dynamics. And I like his desire to learn again by my side on the bench."
