Guirane N'Daw has had his Birmingham City loan extended until the end of the season.
The 27-year old Senegal international landed at St Andrew's from French club Saint-Etienne in the summer but after impressing in 12 appearances for the Blues, will remain for the next five months.
Birmingham boss Chris Hughton said the partnership N'Daw had formed with Keith Fahey had attributed to the clubs solid recent run of just one loss in their last six outings.
"With Keith, he has always been a player capable of high energy and distance. Guirane has tended to play a little deeper in recent years but he can also drive on.
"It is always just finding the right balance and right formula.
"At the moment they have given us a solidity in the middle of the park and they can both pass a ball and, in Guirane's case, he has given us a physical presence as well.""I think both Keith and Guirane have done very well for us in there," said Hughton in the Birmingham Mail.
