Saha happy to be at Everton

Louis Saha admits he is very happy to be at Everton and can see his long-term future being with the club.

The 31-year old French striker joined the Toffees in late 2008 and after a slow start has hit career-best form and has become somewhat of a hero at Goodison Park.

After rumours persisted that he would return to France late last year, Saha has confirmed he is delighted to be an Everton player and hopes the club can push on after a character-building win over league leaders Chelsea midweek.

"I have always said I see my long-term future at Goodison and the performance against Chelsea was great, because it shows what we are about," he said.

"It's not about just me, it's the team because we have a great spirit here and it is a wonderful squad to be part of. Everyone is in it together, and we are all close, and that makes a big difference to everyone.

"We know there is real character here, and it makes you proud to be part of it. We showed great character to come back from the Liverpool game, for instance. We knew it was important to bounce back against top class opponents, and to do that against Chelsea of all teams shows what what self belief we have."

After signing a new deal with the Toffees, Saha is looking forward to scoring plenty more goals for the club and remain in good form at the top level.

"I haven't set myself a target of goals this season - just more than I've got at the moment! The main thing for me is to stay at this level now," he added.

"I want to show it to every opponent that I am serious, I want to work hard, and I want to do well. I'm really enjoying my football. I had a spell with bad injuries, so I'm just happy with how it's going. But it is a relief having the contract talks settled too, because it was a bit stressful."
