Sacked Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino is a serious contender for the Arsenal job, it has been revealed.

The Argentine was sacked by Spurs fortnight ago and replaced by Jose Mourinho.

Arsenal are now in a similar situation after dumping Unai Emery on Friday.

The Daily Mail says the Gunners want someone who can enhance the club's public profile and transmit a clear message from within the camp to supporters.

Pochettino's links to Tottenham are also an obvious issue - though there is understood to be genuine interest in the Argentine from the Gunners.

Taking the job would also mean Pochettino giving up on the compensation he is owed by Spurs.
