Sabatini details why Allegri chose to make Juventus return

Former Roma sports chief Walter Sabatini has detailed how Max Allegri made his return to Juventus.

Allegri has stated he rejected bigger offers to return to Juve two years' ago.

And Sabatini has offered more detail, telling Radio Bianconera: "I happened to be having a coffee in a hotel and it was the day he said he called Andrea Agnelli and said yes to Juventus.

"He said that Inter didn't convince him and neither did Real Madrid. (Steven) Zhang called him but then said he wanted to go to Juventus. And he was denied by the agent to give (Florentino) Perez an answer. But why did he say 'if I wanted to win I would go elsewhere'? Because that's when that happened.

"He said that he wanted to return to Juve because it was his home, exact words. The valuation of 7-7.5 million was also moderate at the time, given how much other big names were getting. Last night he said this not very happy thing. He thought he could do something good in Europe and in Italy. In two years due to mistakes, including his, Juve ends up with zero titles and he obviously finds himself in the eye of the storm.

"The relationship with Andrea Agnelli was important, but it's also very good with (John) Elkann. He really lacked the relationship with the entire Vinovo environment in Allegri, which is why he decided to return.

"But he has not found the Juve that he left. When the club collapsed, the story of a year and a half that finally seemed to be growing then crashed."
