Mat Ryan says the return of Leandro Trossard and Ezequiel Schelotto has sparked Brighton's fire.
Both featured in Saturday's 3-2 win over Everton at the AMEX.
And Ryan says the competition for places is helping Brighton's season.
He said: "Just as the transfer window came to a close some players left and just after that we got quite a few injuries.
"The squad was looking quite thin after looking quite thick throughout the pre-season.
"Over the years and our experience in the Premier League we have got more depth every season and this year it has been the case again.
"There are important players coming back now and it just creates competition for spots and ultimately it is going to raise the individual levels and standards, which is only going to raise the team's standards.
"It is positive signs moving forward."
