Russia coach Valery Karpin admits he's spoken with Dynamo Moscow winger Arsen Zakharyan about his failed move to Chelsea.

Sanctions on Russia saw the move fall through last week, though there's hope between the two clubs a deal can be struck in January.

Karpin said, "We spoke. I was just informed that the transfer will not take place. We exchanged a couple of words.

"He said that everything is fine, they are working on it.

"There must have been some regret. But in general, everything is fine. Ready or not - you can check in one way or the other.

"If he leaves we will understand everything. But this is my opinion."
