Roy Keane could've taken Man Utd job - Souness

Former Liverpool boss Graeme Souness believes that Roy Keane could have been a contender for the Manchester United job.

Souness believes that Keane has all the qualities to do a good job in the Old Trafford hotseat.

But he is also impressed with the work that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has done since taking over from Jose Mourinho.

"United were talking about stirring the place up and getting it going again after they sacked Mourinho and Roy would certainly have done that," he said.

"I'm sure Roy has learned so much during his management career and then working under Martin O'Neill, so he will be ready to go again if he gets another crack at management.

"I don't know Roy at all, but I worked on a game with him for TV a few months back and thoroughly enjoyed being in his company. He was fascinating to be around.

"He and I come from the same school of thought. We both like to win and there is nothing wrong with that.

"Maybe some people are too sensitive these days and that may be where Roy has had a problem at times in his coaching career. It's not just in football that people are too sensitive, it's in every walk of life."
