Former Bournemouth and West Ham full-back Keith Rowland has praised Harry Redknapp for his work on the training ground.

Rowland spent 10 years working with Redknapp during his career and was brought to Bournemouth as an 18-year-old by the former Spurs manager.

He was later joined at West Ham by his former Cherries manager and had five years under Redknapp, making 80 appearances for the Irons.

Speaking in an interview with Tribal Football, Rowland said Redknapp doesn't get the credit he deserves.

"Those first few seasons when I was breaking through at Bournemouth, Harry was brilliant for me," the Aveley FC coach said.

"He came over and signed me, despite Bournemouth having no real scouting network. We would have the odd argument, but Harry was good to work for because he wanted to play the right way.

"There is talk about the West Ham way, but that is what Harry liked. Getting the ball on the deck and playing through the pitch, always going forward. As a full back, going forward was the best part of my game and Harry always encouraged me and pushed me. People don't realise how good a technical coach he was, he wasn't just a manager."

Redknapp has been out of management since leaving Birmingham City in 2017.

After leaving West Ham in 2001, Redknapp took over at Portsmouth for two stints sandwiched either side of a single season at Southampton.

It was during the latter stint at Pompey where Redknapp won the 2007/08 FA Cup.

He then won a move to Tottenham Hotspur, where he guided the club into the Champions League group-stage before being sacked in 2012.
