Rosenborg chief Bjornebye: Time for Bendtner to leave

Rosenborg sports chief Stig Inge Bjornebye admits Nicklas Bendtner will be leaving at the end of the season.

The former Arsenal and Juventus striker joined RBK last year and Bjornebye feels they've both met their commitments.

He said, "From the day Nicklas came to Rosenborg, there has been a common understanding between the club and Nicklas. The intention was to take him to Rosenborg, make him become a top scorer and get him back to the Danish national team and play the World Cup.

"It was very close that it happened but he got an injury just before the selection.

"The second part was that he would move on. In every transfer window there has been great interest in Nicklas. He could have gone in the first window in 2018 but wanted to stay. We did that too. But he is leaving this summer, as part of the project and intention."
