Hoffenheim chief Alexander Rosen admits Havard Nordtveit took a hefty pay-cut to leave West Ham yesterday.
The Norway midfielder quit the Irons after just one season to sign for Hoffenheim in a €7 million deal.
Rosen revealed: "Without his willingness to make financial sacrifices, this transfer would never have been feasible for us."
TSG coach Julian Nagelsmann admits they moved for Nortveit for his versatility.
He explained: "He brings ideal conditions for the role of an internal defender in both a three and a back four, and can also play in the defensive midfield with high quality."
Nordtveit has penned a five-year contract with Hoffenheim.
