Wayne Rooney has told Derby County that their playing squad will not accept a 50 per cent wage deferral.

The Rams want to delay paying their squad half of their wage until a later date.

Rooney has lead talks for the playing ground and has rejected the offer, according to the Daily Mail.

The former England captain says they will only accept a 25 per cent wage deferral.

Negotiations will continue over the coming week with Rams chief executive officer Stephen Pearce.
