Wayne Rooney has recalled a disastrous derby debut for former Manchester United teammate Patrice Evra.
Evra and Nemanja Vidic were signed in the January of 2006 and thrown into a clash with Manchester City for their debuts.
DC United coach Rooney recalled for the Sunday Times: "That was in January 2006, at the Etihad, when Patrice Evra made his United debut and Fergie changed him at half-time after Trevor Sinclair ran him over.
"I remember, after the game, talking about him with Rio Ferdinand. 'Who is this? He is horrible!' We both laugh with Patrice about that now.
“It turned out to be an incredible signing, but I think both him and Nemanja Vidic, who had also just signed and struggled, had a hard time coping with the intensity of the matches and training in the Premier League. They caught up, but I remember for the first month of training they were dying after every session."
