Wayne Rooney will sign his new deal with Manchester United this week.

PA Sport says negotiations over a new contract are at an advanced stage.

It is understood that Rooney has almost agreed in principle to extend his contract until the end of the 2018-19 season.

That deal could be signed as early as Wednesday or Thursday.
