Former Manchester United and Everton striker Wayne Rooney is ready to make his MLS debut.

After spending his entire career so far in the Premier League, Rooney is ready to explore another league.

He will be playing in the MLS for the coming three and a half seasons with DC United.

And now he is ready for his first appearance, as the MLS season is already underway.

But Rooney has not played since mid-April, which means he may need some time to find match fitness.

When asked if he was fit to start the game against the Vancouver Whitecaps on Sunday, Rooney said to Sky Sports: "(I am) as ready as I can be. I obviously have not had as long as I would have had back at home because I have come here mid-season.

"If the manager needs me to start I will happily do that."
