Former England striker Wayne Rooney believes Dominic Calvert-Lewin should have been called up to the national team before Tammy Abraham.
Calvert-Lewin has been in excellent form with Everton this season, and finally got his England chance during the recent internationals.
The 23-year-old has seven goals in the Premier League so far this term in six stars.
Writing in his Sunday Times column, Rooney said about the Toffees front-man: "For England, he can become an important member of the squad and it's great seeing him finally recognised at international level.
"I've always thought young lads from the north have to work harder to get their England opportunities than boys from the big southern clubs. I felt Calvert-Lewin deserved his chance before Chelsea's Tammy Abraham."
