Derby County are lining up a shock move for Wayne Rooney.

Rams owner Mel Morris wants the former Manchester United star to join the club as a player-coach, according to the BBC.

Morris believes Rooney can provide an extra push for Derby to secure promotion to the Premier League.

33-year-old Rooney has two years remaining on his contact with DC United.
