Daniele De Rossi admits he'll try to convince Cristian Chivu to stay with Roma this summer.

Chivu has rejected a new contract tabled by Roma directors this week and is fielding offers from Inter Milan and Barcelona.

Midfielder De Rossi said: "We must see if what is being said is true. Of course, I will call him, I will try to speak to him in order to convince him to remain, as he is one of the strongest defenders in the world.

"But everyone is free to make their own choices."
