Liverpool look set to miss out on Lucas Digne who is close to signing for Italian giants AS Roma.

Paris Saint-Germain defender Digne had been linked to a move to Anfield this summer but this latest news appears to leave Brendan Rodgers continuing his search for a new left-back.

The 22-year-old appeared 19 times for PSG last season, but after being relegated to second choice behind Brazilian Maxwell, has opted for a move away from the Parc de Princes.

The Daily Mail reports that the eight-time France international will sign a loan deal with Roma with the option of the Italian club signing him on a permanent basis.
