Roma sports chief Sabatini lifts lid on new board plans

New AS Roma sports director Walter Sabatini has lifted the lid on their plans under new owner Thomas Di Benedetto.

Sabatini explained what direction the club would be taking once American businessman Di Benedetto officially takes control of the outfit.

"I don't like to talk about projects as they don't exist in football. All that exists is working on a daily basis," Sabatini said.

"We know what we want to do and we'll do it. Di Benedetto wants to win the championship and he says we will, but that won't happen straight away."

Sabatini has been asked to construct a new side, but he confirmed that he will soon be joined by Franco Baldini - a former Roma employee who currently assists Fabio Capello with England.

"I asked the club for a one year contract and that is what they gave me. I shouldn't be a weight for this club. They need to be in a position to decide and choose agreements if we work well.

"Baldini will be here in the next few months once he has resolved his contract with England. As soon as he is free then he will return to Rome."
