Roma president Rosella Sensi says they won't be buying big in January.
Italpetroli, the oil company with a majority stake in Roma, which is run by the Sensi family, is in considerable financial difficulty.
Sensi said: "We cannot make signings of the highest order, but we can do a transfer market. At the moment we need the help of our fans.
"We are not a group in liquidation."
Asked if the players were distracted by news that Unicredit, Italpetroli's chief creditors, are considering taking her to court, Sensi replied: "That's private. They know what to do. They are competent people."
