AS Roma midfielder Lorenzo Pellegrini has declared he wants to be a future captain.

The Italian international was born in Rome and came through the club's youth system.

“I never get tired of saying that, for a Roman lad, playing here gives you a sense of responsibility and pride," Pellegrini told DAZN.

“When you go onto the pitch it seems like you're representing your family, who grew up wearing these colours.

“I'd like to be captain of Roma one day, for the sense of belonging I feel with my family.

“It would be an honour to represent Roma and our fans, my friends and the people I love. It would be an added responsibility, and I like to take them on.

“It really would be a beautiful thing."
