Aston Villa are understood to be interested in AS Roma's attacking midfielder Adem Ljajic.

The Daily Mail is reporting Villa commenced discussions about a potential deal for the 23-year-old.

Ljajic is contracted to Roma until 2017, but it is understood the Serie A club are keen to offload his wages.

Villa's current financial situation may limit their ability to buy the Serbian outright, with a loan deal the most likely scenario should Ljajic end up at the Premier League club.
