Roma striker Stephan El Shaarawy was delighted with victory over Sassulo.

El Shaarawy curled home in the dying embers of the match to clinch a 2-1 win, a result that sent the Giallorossi top of the Serie A table.

"It's been so long since we've been able to experience a moment like this, with the fans," El Shaarawy said.

"These are the moments that make the wait worthwhile."

He added: "We are really pleased, it's our fifth win in a row to start the season. We'll enjoy this moment."

El Shaarawy's celebration under the Curva Sud sparked excited scenes within the Olimpico.

"It was a magical atmosphere," he said.

"There was so much enthusiasm in the air, from the fans, and we need to make sure they keep that enthusiasm.

"We follow what the boss says, he has a lot of experience. So now we need to focus on the next game and make sure we put in the hard work."
