AS Roma legend Francesco Totti accepts it was time to hang up his boots last year.

However, he stands by his frustration that he was forced into the decision by management at the time.

At his book presentation yesterday, Totti stated: "I would have preferred to decide with my head, with my body when I quit.

"But I would have done so that year too, but I would have done it differently."

Totti has upset former Roma coach Luciano Spalletti, now of Inter Milan, and GM Franco Baldini in his book over claims they forced him into retirement.
