Roma goalscorer Veretout delighted with victory over Fiorentina

Roma's two-goal Jordan Veretout was delighted to part of their opening day Serie A victory over Fiorentina.

Roma overcame Nicolo Zaniolo's red card to run out 3-1 winners.

“It was important to win the first game, the result is good, but we still have a lot of work to do," Veretout told DAZN.

“The coach wants us to win every game, we faced a great team today, Fiorentina play really well, but we always remained compact and with the strength of the Curva and the stadium, we scored goals and won the game.

“During the break, Mourinho told us we had to improve because we had suffered in the first half. I believe not everything is going well, but we are just at the beginning and we need to work all together to win games. We must recover now.

“The relationship with Mourinho is really good," Veretout continued.

“We work hard when we have to and at the same time, we joke together when it's the right moment. He is always close to us. It was amazing to play in front of our fans after all this time."
