Roma fullback John Arne Riise has dismissed talk of a return to Liverpool in January.

It was mooted over the weekend that the Norway international would welcome a move to Anfield after failing to settle in Italy. A swap involving Italian left-back Andrea Dossena has been mentioned.

Riise said: "I never said I wanted to return to Liverpool nor to England and I have never issued those statements.

"I'm happy here and want to remain at Roma."
