Roma director Ricky Massara has defended the decision to allow Daniele de Rossi to leave.

De Rossi will depart after Roma refused to offer him terms for next season.

“It's a week that has generated a tumult of emotions that we must transform into positive energy for the victory," director of sport Massara told DAZN.

“There are painful decisions that are difficult to make on an emotional level. De Rossi himself urged everyone to focus on this very important match to end the season in the best possible way, for us and for our captain."
