Roma coach Ranieri: Why it didn't work at Inter Milan

AS Roma coach Claudio Ranieri has spoken of weekend opponents Inter Milan.

Ranieri had a short spell in charge of Inter during the 2011/12 season.

“Every city has its differences, but it depends on the historical moment," he said.

“Spalletti knows Rome very well and is getting to know Milan. I had a few months to get to know Milan, I went in and out of the running [for top four].

“I lost two players like (Thiago) Motta and (Philippe) Coutinho. Until that moment, Inter had recovered. Then our central point of reference left and we dropped out.

“Now we'll go back to playing at this stadium against Inter, who are very close to the Champions League. It's a challenge for us."
