Roma coach Mourinho loses ban appeal as evidence made public

Roma's appeal against coach Jose Mourinho two-match ban has been rejected.

Mourinho attended his hearing and gave evidence, with La Republicca obtaining the minutes.

Everything started when Mourinho asked for an explanation for the missed foul on defender Marash Kumbulla in defeat at Cremonese.

Mourinho told the Court of Appeals, “Without even turning around, provocatively giving me his back and with obvious superiority, (fourth offical Marco) Serra told me: 'Go home, go home'. I said 'what?' and he said 'everyone is taking the p*ss'. Then he added 'always the same show, go home'."

When the referee eventually produced the red card, Serra muttered 'bravo' to the coach.

After the game, Mourinho visited the referee's dressing room.

“I knocked, I was allowed in, the door was left open," he told the court, “I came here because I want you (Serra) to apologise to me."

Serra refused to back down: “I did not disrespect you, I never said anything against you."

Mourinho stated, “I then told him he was a liar and at the end I added an ironic joke: 'You are from Turin'."

“At that moment," Mourinho continued, “Serra came back aggressively: 'I knew you were coming for that reason'. There then I ended the conversation by saying 'you are a liar'."

Mourinho admitted that “this whole situation did not affect the match", but also felt that “I was treated unprofessionally and provocatively by Serra."
