Roma coach Di Francesco hails Lazio win: I saw difference in players' eyes

AS Roma coach Eusebio Di Francesco was delighted with the character shown for their 3-1 win over Lazio.

Loreno Pellegrini, Aleks Kolarov and Federico Fazio struck for Roma.

“The decision to put the team together was to shake off fear and malcontent. We reacted as men today, which was what I had asked for," Di Francesco told Sky Sport Italia.

“We might cling to the market, form or any other excuse, but the fact remains this is the same team I had last season and we hadn't been transformed so much.

“The most difficult moment of the match was Fazio's error on the Immobile equaliser, but we were calm and knew we'd score again. We showed the character to remain in the game and not let our heads drop, so that proved we can get past obstacles and difficulties.

“We worked very hard on the attack, both in possession and out of possession. We had a meeting this morning to go back over some situations where we did well and others where we could've done better. Everyone has to track back and help out.

“This performance means the team hasn't lost its identity or idea of football. I saw the difference in their faces and their eyes today, and it showed on the pitch."
