Roma coach Di Francesco: Derby scoreline harsh

Roma coach Eusebio di Francesco insists they didn't deserve their 3-0 defeat to Lazio.

Lazio attacker Felipe Caicedo opened the scoring after 12 minutes, then Ciro Immobile converted a penalty for Federico Fazio's foul on Joaquin Correa until a late Danilo Cataldi strike.

“We were certainly not up to the task in the first half. We reacted well after the break and had several chances to equalise, but the penalty knocked the wind out of our sails," Di Francesco told DAZN.

“It's just not possible to concede a goal from a throw-in. It happened against Frosinone too, our marking was all wrong, we make too many defensive errors this season. Creating chances was not enough.

“We tried to work on these situations, but have to improve mentally too. The approach was certainly not positive. It was a game we could've put back on track and 3-0 is far too heavy a result considering the overall match.

“I don't know why we started so sluggishly, because it's impossible to underestimate a derby. Mentally, this is a team that needs a lot of work. We had a string of positive results, so this setback was not what we wanted."
