Rolando Maran named new Chievo coach

Rolando Maran has been named new coach of Chievo Verona.

Eugenio Corini was sacked after Saturday's thrashing by AS Roma.

Maran started playing for Chievo when they were in Serie C2 in 1986, making 330 appearances for the club, many of them as captain.

"It is very emotional for me to take on this club," Maran told the official Chievo website.

"It's a double joy considering I spent almost my entire playing career at Chievo Verona. I chose to accept this position because speaking with President Luca Campedelli and director of sport Luca Nember I saw the great unity and shared ideas of what they want to achieve.

"When these elements are in place, you can work well."
