Manchester City's new £63 million-man Rodri has revealed that he always aspired to play with Sergio Aguero after idolising him during his early years at Atletico Madrid.
Rodri came up through the academy as Aguero led the Spanish giants, and the Argentine is such an inspiration that Rodri has announced that he will be wearing the number 16 shirt next season; the same number that Aguero wore in his first seasons at the Etihad.
Rodri explained: "Now I have the chance to meet Aguero. I meet with him in the academy when I was very young in Atletico.
"I used to see him at the [Vicente] Calderon Stadium, and now I play with him, so I'm very excited and happy to play with him.
"I'm really happy and excited to be here in Manchester. It's a great step for me, a dream for me playing with these players with this coach. I'm excited to play at the Etihad stadium and have success with this team."
