Rodgers laments Leicester attacking quality after PSV stalemate

Leicester City and PSV delivered a goalless stalemate in their Europa Conference League quarter-final first leg at King Power Stadium.

The hosts came closest to breaking the deadlock on the stroke of half-time when lively winger Harvey Barnes struck the crossbar.

PSV should have taken the lead in just the second minute when Mario Gotze evaded the offside trap but Kasper Schmeichel spread himself wide to deny the German.

The two sides meet at the Philips Stadium in the second leg next Thursday for the right to meet Roma or Bodo/Glimt in the last four.

Bodo/Glimt are ahead 2-1 in that tie thanks to a goal in the 89th minute.

Leicester were without veteran striker Jamie Vardy, and manager Brendan Rodgers bemoaned his lack of quality up front.

He said: "It's a good performance. There were not too many chances. PSV had an early one but apart from that I thought we defended strongly.

"There were not too many chances in the game. Maybe a bit more quality in the final third would have made it a bit easier for us. We just lacked that bit of quality up there. We just didn't have that extra final bit of quality to create that chance.

"There was no surprise in terms of PSV. They have good players and are a threat on the counter attack. Domestically PSV score a lot of goals home and away but we restricted them to not so much."
